Appearance: Sephiroth is tall. Around 6'0". Which isn't that tall, but he dwarfs Cloud, and as an intimidation tactic, that's all he really needs. He comes complete with long silver hair and glowing green eyes that remind some of cats and others of snakes. He has somewhat of an affinity for dead animals, which might explain his fetish for black leather and the reason why he spends his days dressed rather like a bondage mag centerfold. Now and again, he sports a large black wing. Just one.

Personality: Sephiroth is... well... not very nice. While this Sephiroth is post-insanity and thus not so eager to skewer Cloud/company presidents/people in his way/etc. or laugh maniacally, and he's fallen back on some pre-Nibelheim habits of quiet courtesy, he's still not always the best person to run to for help. Not always because there are the off-occasions where he'll do something from simple amusement--and he has a bit of a warped sense of humor. He can be cool, has a tendency for deadpan, and really doesn't open up much to anyone (perhaps excluding a few erstwhile friends). It's also a good idea not to get him mad. If there's anything he's gained from Jenova, it's pride... and he doesn't brook insults or suffer fools lightly. Since he carries a big sword and enjoys setting things on fire, it's pretty close to lugging around a big warning sign too.

Abilities/Strengths: He's really good with his sword. And he can fly, oftentimes through various walls and ceilings because humans move too slow. He has quite a few mastered materia slotted on or around his person that lets him cast various spells--from throwing fireballs, to summoning ancient Norse gods, to turning the enemy into a frog. He's still a nab hand at riding a chocobo, though that hasn't happened since his Shinra days and he isn't likely to find any large birds to ride around on, and he since he's a military man, even if you somehow manage to separate him from his sword, it's implied that if he punches you, it will hurt and you may possibly die.

Weaknesses: ...He really doesn't like mako--it's your standard-issue glowing green Lifestream refined into nuclear goop. Don't jump into a reactor vat full of it. It will kill you. And death by chemical inferno is a rather bad way to go, even if it eventually crystallizes around you posthumously like radioactive amber. Sephiroth can also be killed, by weapons and by brute force no matter what form he takes, mostly because even imbued with Jenova cells, you can still bleed. However, this approach is not advised for anyone besides Cloud (and even then, a retenue of robotic cats, gun-toting vampires, smart-mouthed captains and the like is recommended) because so far, only Cloud's had much of a good track record using it.

Emotionally, the only people who'd really have much of an effect are a few erstwhile friends from a long while ago. There are few enough of them that one's able to enumerate them in a single, non-run-on sentence: Cloud, Zack, and quite possibly Aeris, as hers was the only death that meant something to him, as various company presidents and giant snakes did not. I'm not entirely sure how he would react to if he ever ran into an Angeal or a Genesis, but I don't dwell so much on those parts of Sephiroth's distant past so it'll be easier to manage should such a situation occur in-game.

Notable Possessions: His Masamune, a really big sword. An equipment bracer and various materia (he's still of the old school of thought that sticking materia directly in your extraneous limbs and glowing like a junebug is Not Stealthy). His clothes.

History: Sephiroth was born as his father's experiment with Jenova cells (bits of an alien virus that fell from space a couple thousand years ago). He grew up to be a General and the leader of the Shinra company's army, as well as the President's sometimes bodyguard. He was looked up to and was constantly in the public eye, so there was much shock, horror, and general befuddlement when he went insane, started killing people, and set a town on fire. He died in a mako reactor, after cutting off Jenova's head (whom he is convinced is his Mother) and taking it with him.

Two years later, he resurfaces to send his will (and Sephiroth clones) running amok all over the Planet, killing some, hurting others, and generally calling for the end of the world. He fails because Cloud has a big sword and lots of friends and it hurts to be stabbed, punched, shot and chewed on no matter what form you take. He comes back a year after that using the body of Kadaj, the personification of his cruelty, to fight Cloud in an epic battle that lasts less than fifteen minutes, and fails to kill him again, though he insists this is because Kadaj's body simply wasn't good enough. Maybe Loz's would've worked better.

There are no real deviations from canon for this Sephiroth except for the fact that I extrapolate him getting yanked out of the Lifestream without Jenova's influence which is why he has some measure of his old sanity back. I like to blame her for a lot of things going wrong. She doesn't mind and is usually inclined to agree, as much as a sentient alien virus can.
